App Passwords for Email

App Passwords for sending emails in other clients than the original service.

There are a number of reasons you may want to use an email account other than just from the service such as Gmail or Microsoft’s Outlook or Hotmail and do it from their traditional clients such as Outlook on the desktop or Gmail from the web page, such as each others’ service, or a scanner and copier. This is where App Passwords from those services come in to save the day!

One good reason is that you may have many accounts and want to use just one account to see everything. I use Gmail for most but also have Microsoft too. If I want to be able to send an email from my Microsoft account from a Gmail account there is an option. Go to Gmail’s settings > Accounts and Import > Send mail as: > Add another email address. When you do this you’ll get a pop-up window to add your information.

You’ll want to change the server information after it fails. Let it fail once. Seems odd I know, but I think this is where it triggers an email from Microsoft telling you to go to the page where you get the app password(How to create an app password page and the ). Log into the Microsoft account you want to use first. Then go to the button/link that takes you here. https://account.live.com/APHelp and click the button to “Create Password”. Click that and you’ll taken to a new page that generates a new app password for you.
